Animal Crossing: New Horizons will see the entry of some new villagers nearly a year after its inception.

In a short trailer released earlier today, Nintendo announced that six new villagers would make their way to the title. Developers advertised that the Sanrio Collaboration Pack of amiibo cards will be exclusively available at Target on March 26.

These cards have been out of circulation for a while. They were previously available in select regions, but this is the first time they will be available in the United States.

The six cards feature new personalities added to Animal Crossing. They are Rilla, Chelsea, Etoile, Marty, Chai, and Toby. They have been modeled after the Sanrio characters Hello Kitty, My Melody, Little Twin Stars Kiki and Lala, Pompompurin, and Cinnamoroll Kerokerokeroppi.

Rilla, Marty, Etoile, Chai, Chelsea, and Toby were available in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Their arrival in New Horizons marks a complete shift in the game.

Scanning the aforementioned cards will allow the characters to become residents in their villages. It will also enable them to gather in-game items that will help them decorate the island.

It is the first time villagers are being added to New Horizons, but such action sets a precedent for future updates.

Updates to look forward to in Animal Crossing

The Festivale update was a massive success for the title. It won the 'Best Family Game' Award at the Game Awards.

The end of the event means that Bunny Day will be added shortly to Animal Crossing. Bunny was a major attraction last year. However, it will be interesting to see if developers can tweak the event to add more features.

The Mario theme was added to Animal Crossing as part of its 35th anniversary. This included Mario-themed items like costumes. Sadly, no Mario-themed villagers are being added. In the future, that might change.
