Best AK74u loadout in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War

The AK74u in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War was one of the most dominant weapons during the PlayStation alpha in September. The SMG is incredibly strong, offers manageable recoil and is a very versatile weapon.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is coming back to PlayStation 4 for a beta test this weekend and will be cross-platform the following weekend. This means further testing of the AK74u within Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

There's a chance that the SMG won't be as strong as it was in September but it is likely still a great pick, especially with the right attachments.

Sound Suppressor/Muzzle Break

This first attachment is really going to come down to player choice. The sound suppressor is going to provide noise reduction and concealment on shots that are fired, which can be invaluable in multiplayer. However, the muzzle break will provide more base stats. Recoil will be reduced and stabilized with the muzzle break, and it can be a great addition to maximize accuracy on the AK74u.

Sound suppressors may be the safer choice in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War but players who are feeling more aggressive can go for the muzzle break.

9.3" Extended Barrel

Extended barrels will give any weapon an extended range on damage and increased stability. However, that comes at the price of mobility and ads speed. The additional range will, in turn, make the weapon slower, which can be more noticeable with a close-range SMG.

The extended barrel will be the more general pick for a great loadout option in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War but the paratrooper barrel is also available as a good choice. The paratrooper is, however, more niche and is meant more for aggression.

Foregrip

Another attachment that will maximize the recoil control, the foregrip is a must-have addition on the AK74u. SMG weapons generally have more trouble at range, and this foregrip is going to minimize that problem.

Along with the muzzle break, the AK74u will feel very close to having no recoil and will be able to serve as both an SMG and a rifle at times.

Quickdraw Handle

With the above attachments, the AK74u will have lost a good amount of mobility and ads speed. The quickdraw in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is going to bring back some of that lost speed. Because it is an SMG, the ads speed is integral to many of the close-range fights that players will be involved in.

Tactical Stock

This is the second attachment that is going to provide further ads speed and stats like strafing movement. Many players will appreciate the additional mobility stats that the tactical stock provides but if it doesn't feel needed, an optical sight like a red dot can also be substituted.
