Does Star Wars Outlaws have a character creator?

The character creator function is becoming more and more popular in games, with it allowing players to mold the main character the way they want. However, some single-player games that follow a specific character don’t offer this opportunity. Since Star Wars Outlaws tells the story of the intergalactic scoundrel Kay Vess, the game lacks any sort of character creator functionality.

Kay has a rich backstory and players will make choices, meet various characters, and take on missions while playing the game. That said, despite the absence of a character creator functionality, players can alter the appearance of the main protagonist and her companion Nix through various outfits and accessories available in the game.

While Star Wars Outlaws doesn’t allow you to change Kay’s physical appearance, you can still customize Kay’s outfits. On top of this, you can customize the S-57 Cardinal Speeder and the Trailblazer as well.

Customization for the Speeder and the Trailblazer is purely cosmetic, but many of Kay’s outfits provide a boost to her combat and exploration abilities.

An outfit set consists of chest, belt, and pant pieces, and can be acquired through microtransactions, finishing side quests, building a reputation with syndicates, or exploring the world.

There are over 30 sets of outfits for Kay to wear in Star Wars Outlaws, which can be unlocked by playing through the game. Some outfits have unique set bonuses, while others are purely cosmetic and let you dress as iconic characters from the Star Wars franchise.

You can change Kay’s outfit after reaching Toshara during the main story. Open the Equipment tab and select Loadout. Here, you will be able to choose from different chest, belt, and pant pieces.

Kay can command Nix to help her steal weapons and items, distract enemies, and solve puzzles. You can unlock customizations for Nix by completing Merchant Quests, increasing your reputation with syndicates, and locating hidden treasure chests throughout the game's world.

To customize Nix, open the Equipment tab and select Loadout. Here, click on the slot next to Nix to switch between his accessories.

Note that all of Nix’s customizations are cosmetic changes and do not grant any new abilities. Instead, you must feed Nix specific treats to unlock his supportive capabilities.

The Speeder is a handy vehicle that allows quick traversal on large planets, while the Trailblazer is your spaceship that helps you travel between galaxies. New patterns and paint jobs can be unlocked through microtransactions, finishing reputation quests, and finding hidden treasure chests.

Once you’ve unlocked the cosmetic items, you will need to visit a mechanic to get a paint job.
