Fallout 4 seems to be facing more performance issues where players are now suddenly finding that certain characters and objects are turning purple in the game. It’s one of the more annoying errors to deal with as it not only breaks the immersion but also leads to the game crashing from time to time. The issue is occurring because of a couple of bugs that seem to be present in some of the Fallout 4 DLCs.

There is no permanent solution to be found for this error just yet, however, there are some workarounds that can help deal with the issue. Today’s Fallout 4 guide will go over how you can deal with the error that’s turning characters and objects purple.

As the issue is occurring with some of the DLCs, to fix the purple character error in Fallout 4 you will need to uninstall the DLCs from your platform.

Here is how you can do it from your respective platform:

1) Steam

To remove the DLCs from your PC you will be required to:

  • Make your way to the Steam Library and then right-click on Fallout 4. Now head to Properties and then make your way to the DLC section.
  • Here you will get a list of all the DLCs that you have already installed along with the base game.
  • Untick all the DLCs here and the client will automatically update the game for you. Relaunch Fallout 4 once the update is done, and the purple issue is most likely going to be fixed for you.

2) PlayStation 5

To uninstall the DLCs on your PS5 you will need to:

  • Highlight Fallout 4 on your home screen and then press the Options button. Here go to Manage Game Content and then head to the DLC section.
  • Select the DLCs that you want to remove and then click on the Delete option.
  • Now exit the options menu and launch the game again.

An alternate way of going bout doing this on your PS5 will be to uninstall the game and then untick all the DLCs when you go to re-install it.

After you uninstall all the DLCs to workaround this error you will not have access to any additional content in Fallout 4. You will just get to enjoy the base game—at least until Bethesda comes up with a fix.
