FIFA 18 predicted ratings: 5 Premier League players who may be overrated

Hart’s replacement hasn’t been great

The English Premier League has provided us with memories to last a lifetime. Most of these memories are thanks to incredible performances by some of the world’s best players owing to the success of their respective clubs. EA Sports FIFA has for long depended on these stellar players to bring out their own ratings system and rank each player according to their achievements. Over the years, some players have made a bigger impression than others, leading to higher ratings and extra features added to their arsenal.

But some have promised a lot, but not really delivered. Most Premier League players who seal expensive transfers find it especially hard to live up to the big numbers either due to pressure or just inexperience.

This list combines a lot of those traits and aims to find those players who according to FIFA, are among the very best, but recent real life performances show just the opposite. Keeping that in mind, here are the 5 Premier League players who may be overrated in the FIFA 18 video game:

#5 Claudio Bravo

Starting in the last line of defence, Manchester City sent shock waves through the footballing world last summer following their will to release Joe Hart as their no.1 and acquire the services of another keeper. That keeper turned out to be Chilean, Claudio Bravo.

His pedigree was undoubted but the former Barcelona stopper found life extremely hard in the Premier League, making schoolboy errors all throughout the season and failing to live up to the lofty standards of the English League.

His FIFA 18 rating doesn’t look set to dwindle much as the big name player is still expected to be in the mid 80s or thereabouts, a number criminally high if you’re considering his keeping displays this past season.

#4 Willian

Willian appears to have fallen out of favour

Willian is one of those hot and cold players from whom you never quite know what to expect. One of the silver linings in a dark Chelsea cloud from two seasons ago, Willian’s importance grew when he revelled in the failures of his teammates. In the following season, however, the story was a bit different.

Antonio Conte’s new look Chelsea boasted of some promising players and unfortunately that meant Willian spent a lot of time on the bench. The Brazilian made just 15 appearances in the Premier League and his 19 overall substitute appearances suggest that the manager didn’t see enough ability in the attacking player to use him regularly in the first team.

His healthy rating of 85 in FIFA 17 won’t fall too much owing to Chelsea’s League success but it probably should, seeing how the Brazilian was not all that great.

#3 Santi Cazorla

Have we seen the best of Santi?

Santi Cazorla joined Arsenal as one of those big name players that had eluded Arsene Wenger’s side for quite a while. His initial promise was there for all to see, but injuries have plagued much of the Spaniard’s time at the Emirates and a forgettable past season has raised questions over his Arsenal future.

With this context, it is quite baffling to imagine that Cazorla is currently rated 86 as per FIFA 17 and probably won’t fall more than just a few notches in FIFA 18 while ideally his recent performances don’t earn him a spot in the mid 80s.

The playmaker’s mere seven Premier League appearances make for sorry reading and it’s a shame that injuries haven’t allowed the Gooners the opportunity to see the best of the promising Spaniard.

#2 Mesut Ozil

Ozil’s rating flatters him

Ozil’s arrival at the Emirates brought renewed hope for Gooners all around the world. His first and second seasons at the club proved just how vital he is to the Arsenal cause and could be the glue to put the pieces back together. That was however, until this past season. Ozil has been far from his very best and irregular performances in an Arsenal shirt have led to frustration like never before.

Reports of his unhappiness at the club have made speculation rife over whether we have seen the best of the German already. His FIFA 17 rating in the higher 80s makes for head scratching viewing and while his numbers should drop in the upcoming game, it will still be way more than he deserves credit for.

#1 Paul Pogba

A tad overrated?

This might be a controversial pick, but when you come with a price tag of over 80 million pounds over your head, you better back it up. Pogba impressed in his first couple of games back in a red shirt but has been nothing special since.

His days in Juventus promised a stellar first season and quite frankly his United career so far is yet to take off. FIFA 18 will still rate the Frenchman highly though, and United fans the world over will hope that he can use that as a catalyst to reignite his career at Old Trafford.
