Mr. Qi has a series of interesting quests known as the Mysterious Qi questline. The last of these is a quest called Sand Dragon’s Last Meal. Completing this questline rewards you with access to Casino at the Oasis. To complete Mr. Qi’s questline, you need to gain access to the Calico Desert area by completing the Vault Bundle at the Community Center.
While the quest itself isn't difficult, a lack of explicit instructions makes it puzzling for players to complete Sand Dragon’s Last Meal. But fear not, this guide will help you find and feed the Sand Dragon’s last meal and complete Mr. Qi’s questline.
How to start the Sand Dragon’s Last Meal quest
Before you start the Sand Dragon’s Last Meal quest, you first need to complete three prerequisite quests in the Mysterious Qi questline.
1) Find the battery-powered lockbox
First head to the bus stop and take a left. You will reach a new area called Backwoods. Going a bit deeper, you will come across a battery-powered lockbox. Inserting the battery will complete this quest and unlock the next one.
2) Rainbow Shell at the train station
After placing the battery, you will receive a prompt to head to the train station. The station is located north of Robin’s house and can be accessed after Summer 3. Simply place a Rainbow Shell in the box inside the train station.
3) Place Beets inside the Mayor’s fridge
After placing the Rainbow Shell, you will need to put 10 beets inside the Mayor’s fridge. The beet seeds can be purchased from the store at the Oasis. After the beets are placed in the fridge, the Sand Dragon’s Last Meal quest will finally trigger.
How to complete Sand Dragon’s Last Meal quest
After completing the prerequisite quests, Mr. Qi will prompt you with ‘feed the desert dragon his last meal.’ This message may be confusing for players as it provides little to no information on where to find the dragon and what to feed it. However, completing this quest is simple.
1) Find the Solar Essence
The last meal simply refers to Solar Essence, an item that can be obtained by killing various monsters or by simply purchasing it.
The Solar Essence is dropped by various enemies such as Ghost, Iridium Bat, Metal Head, Haunted Skull, Mummy, Hot Head, and Blue Squid. However, fighting these enemies can be difficult. So, prepare for a challenging fight, especially if you're bad at monster slaying.
A much easier way to get Solar Essence is by purchasing it from Krobus after unlocking the Sewer area with a Rusty Key. At his shop, you can buy up to 10 Solar Essence for a price of 80g.
2) Feed the Sand Dragon
Once you've acquired the Solar Essence, it's time to go to the Calico Desert. Head west from the bus stop in the Calico Desert. You'll encounter a big skeleton, which is the Sand Dragon. Approach the skull and use the Solar Essence on its mouth. You will receive a prompt from Mr. Qi informing you about quest completion and to check the pile of lumber next to your house.
3) Sand Dragon's Last Meal Quest Reward
Completing the Sand Dragon's Last Meal quest unlocks Casino at the Oasis. Head back to your farmhouse and check the woodpile next to your house. You'll find a mysterious Club Card hidden within.
This card grants access to the secret backroom of the Oasis store where you can access the casino and use Qi coins to gamble at the slot machines for rewards.
So, there you have it. Unlocking the Club Card finishes the whole Mysterious Qi questline. Now you can access the casino to exchange your Qi coins for unique items like furniture, paintings, and warp totems.
