An upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 community project is set to bring a brand new map featuring Outbreak, an open-world, co-op zombies game mode from Black Ops Cold War. The latest map will also feature a unique narrative storyline with playable characters and a main quest that players must complete. Details of this fresh addition are explored in this article.

Black Ops 3 is scheduled to get community-made Outbreak mode in August

The upcoming Outbreak mode by the community will feature a large-scale map called Vae Victis and boast four main characters named Misty, Russman, Marlton, and Stuhlinger. As per the developers, the storyline will take place after the events of Tag Der Toten, which was the final Aether story map in Black Ops 4.

Although it is a community-made map and mode, players and fans should not expect it to be taken down by Activision via a cease and desist letter as it is being fully developed using Treyarch's official mod tools and will be released on Steam Workshop in August if no unforeseen delays get in the way.

The custom mod will implement aspects of Outbreak mode from Black Ops Cold War into Black Ops 3 while continuing the Dark Aether storyline from Black Ops 4. According to the official description:

"Explore the Dark Aether as it transforms and reacts to its new inhabitants. Squad up and survive as you visit familiar locations made new, and do battle with enemies from all across the Aether Story timeline! Find out the fate of Victis and protect the brand new world that our heroes worked so hard to achieve in this BRAND NEW Black Ops III Custom Zombies OUTBREAK experience."

As the new Black Ops 3 Outbreak map and mode will be released on Steam Workshop, the community mod will not be available on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, or Xbox One, but only on PC, specifically the Steam platform as Battle.net does not have mod support.
