Call of Duty: Warzone 2 was released in November last year, while the competitive Ranked Mode of the game launched this month with Season 3 Reloaded on May 10. Battle Royale Ranked Play is available for players on Al Mazrah in only trio squad sizes. Furthermore, the mode is currently in Beta, with the developers testing the balancing ahead of a full release planned for next month.

Since its launch, the developers have been releasing updates that disable and tweak certain aspects of the battle royale title, such as the removal of Cluster Mine and Bomb Drone killstreaks. One such major change set to go live soon has been revealed by the developers.

Warzone 2 developers will soon disable Proximity Voice Chat from Ranked Mode

Proximity Voice Chat is a popular feature of Warzone 2 that has been part of the game since its launch. It allows players to talk to their nearby enemies, resulting in some hilarious moments while increasing the intensity of firefights as players interact before running into each other.

However, as Ranked Play is a competitive mode, such features decrease the competitive integrity of the match as it gives players information without any effort. For example, players can know that enemies are nearby just by listening to their Proximity Voice Chat.

Raven Software, in consideration with Treyarch Software, has decided to remove the feature from Ranked Play of Warzone 2. However, it will remain in the regular battle royale modes.

The Proximity Voice Chat feature is still available in the game even after a minor update on all platforms went live yesterday. As there was a bug with the update, the feature will be disabled shortly instead.

Lastly, Global Text Chat in Warzone Ranked Play has also been disabled, as it allowed players who have been eliminated from the match to spectate other players and reveal their positions in the Global Text Chat. This would let players alive know their opponents' whereabouts, which was disadvantageous and unfair to the Operators being spectated.
