The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom offers a massive fantasy world for players to explore. From vast plains to gloomy caves, many discoveries must be made. As players explore the damp confines of some underground lairs, they will come across unique fauna, flora, and treasures. These also include something known as Bubbul Gems. A brand new item introduced for this game, these curious gems are rare but worth collecting in the long run.

As with everything else in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, players will be handsomely rewarded for their effort. But how to obtain them?

Here is everything players need to know about finding Bubbul Gems.

Bubbul Gems are obtained from Bubbulfrogs in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

Bubbulfrogs are strange frog-like creatures found inside caves across Hyrule. Their blue glow identifies them, and they can often be seen clinging to the cave ceilings. These are the only source of Bubbul Gems in the game. Players have to attack the Bubbulfrog and defeat it to get them. The easiest way is using arrows since they are usually out of melee range. A couple of standard ones should get the job done.

So there is no need to waste materials via arrow fusion. Once the Bubbulfrog is dealt with, it should drop a Bubbul Gem and a Blupee. The latter is a magical blue spirit rabbit, but it is the former that players are after. Bubbul Gems are collectibles that are shaped like a snowflake. While obtained early on in the Sky Islands, these will not be used until players reach the surface in Hyrule.

To be more specific. They are turned into an NPC called Koltin in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. To find him, go to Woodland Stable in Eldin in the northeast part of the map. The coordinates for the stable are as follows: 1060, 1125, and 0024. Alongside his brother Kilton, he can be found at his patchwork hot-air balloon on the pond's bank next to this stable. Interact with him to initiate a quest called "The Hunt for Bubbul Gems!".

It turnsKoltin believes consuming Bubbul Gems will allow him to turn into a Satori - a mountain spirit that appeared in The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild. He will grant players a Bokoblin mask in exchange for 1 Bubbul Gem, but since this is not enough to grant his wish, he moves to another area. This will initiate the "Search for Koltin" side mission. It sees players track him down in the Akkala Highlands at approximately the following coordinates: 3661, 2064, 0168.

It should be noted that he only spawns during nighttime in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. However, from here onwards, players can freely trade with him. Here is the list of all items he has to offer in exchange for a set number of Bubbul Gems (minus the Bokoblin Mask obtained before):

  • Moblin Mask (2)
  • Hinox Toenail (2)
  • Mystic Robe (3)
  • Fire Keese Eyeball x8 (3)
  • Lizalfos Mask (3)
  • Ice-Breath Lizalfos Tail (3)
  • Mystic Trousers (4)
  • White-Maned Lynel Mace Horn (4)
  • Horriblin Mask (4)
  • Gleeok Wing x2 (4)
  • Lynel Mask (4)
  • Gleeok Thunder Horn x3 (4)
  • Mystic Headpiece (5)

Trying to get all items off him will take some time as Bubbulfrogs are tucked away within cave systems throughout the kingdom. However, the effort is worth it as these are unique and rare treasures usually not found elsewhere. Finally, turning in all Bubbul Gems to Koltin will reward players with Koltin's Fabric.
