Fernando Alonso was the youngest double world champion before Sebastian Vettel broke his record in 2011. He won the Championships in 2005 and 2006, with Renault, ending Michael Schumacher's 5-year Championship streak.

After a brief stint with McLaren and a return to Renault, Alonso signed for Ferrari in 2010, to partner up Felipe Massa. He managed to win 11 Grands Prix with the Italian giants and achieved 44 podium finishes.

Alonso won his first race for Ferrari in Bahrain in 2010 and won his last race in his hometown, Spain, in 2013. He had a very disappointing season in 2014, where he finished 6th in the Drivers' Championship table, but well ahead of his then-teammate, Kimi Raikkonen.

The Spaniard returned to McLaren in 2015, and continues to race for them, but will be retiring from the sport at the end of the season.
