The grueling Formula One calendar shifts its attention this weekend to a venue that racing fans are very well-versed with. The stage is set for another drama-filled encounter at a track which is known for providing just that over the years.

This weekend's action will be played out at the Hungaroring in Budapest, Hungary with the World Championship battle, without a doubt, being the major highlight. Lewis Hamilton's sensational victory at the German Grand Prix last week opened up a gap, if you could call it one, to 17 points ahead of Sebastian Vettel who crashed out of his home race after an uncharacteristic error on the tricky Hockenheim surface. But the German would be well aware that a win this weekend could alter the scenario in a huge way, especially if Hamilton doesn't drive a satisfactory race.

However, if history is anything to go by, a poor race at the Hungaroring is quite a rarity for the Brit, who has the most number of wins at the circuit with five. Regardless of how his season is progressing, Hamilton somehow comes to life in Hungary and shows us just what he's capable of. With his incredible Hungaroring record in mind, we wanted to list out those five wins in order to show the true class of the Mercedes driver, especially at this historic circuit:

The 2016 F1 season followed a pattern similar to the previous year. It was a two-way battle for the World Championship with both Mercedes' in the running. Nico Rosberg came into the race with a slender one-point lead over his teammate but by the end of the race, found himself behind Lewis Hamilton, both in the race results, as well as in the Championship.

Rosberg had a stunning qualifying run and ended Q3 with a pole-worthy time that narrowly beat that of his partner and direct rival. However, Rosberg couldn't take the pace of qualifying into the final race and Hamilton managed to edge out the German by just short of two second s. The sheer dominance of the two Mercedes drivers was highlighted by the massive gap to Daniel Ricciardo in third place who was 27 seconds behind.

#4 2013 Hungarian GP

The 2013 Hungarian GP was proof of just how comfortable Lewis Hamilton was at the Hungaroring. Though this would turn out to be another year of Sebastian Vettel dominating F1, this particular race gave hope to fans of the Brit and the Silver Arrows along with renewed belief in competition among drivers.

The stage was set after Hamilton pipped Sebastian Vettel to pole position in qualifying, and he took that momentum all the way through to the chequered flag, driving a near-perfect race with a 10-second gap ahead of Kimi Raikkonen in second place and reminding the world exactly what he was capable of.

The race victory gave Hamilton his fourth win at the Hungaroring and tied him with Michael Schumacher for most wins at the circuit. This was a fulfilling victory for Hamilton in more ways than one and marked his first victory for his new team Mercedes, a moment that he'll perhaps never forget.

#3 2012 Hungarian GP

This particular race in 2012 was remembered as much for Hamilton's tenacity as it was for the bizarre antics of former World Champion Michael Schumacher. The German pulled off a number of head-scratching moves throughout the race which resulted in an extra formation lap for the rest of the field.

Nonetheless, Hamilton drove from pole position all the way to the chequered flag with Kimi Raikkonen posing the only real problem in his competitive Lotus car. Despite numerous overtaking attempts, the Finn was unable to get past his British counterpart and the race ended with Hamilton on the top of the podium.

#2 2009 Hungarian GP

Hamilton may have been the defending World Champion, but there was a new team in town come 2009 and they were making a real name for themselves. Brawn GP had set the world alight with their electrifying pace this year and the Hungarian GP was one of the few times in the season that the Ross Brawn-led team failed to make a major impact.

Fernando Alonso started this race in a surprising pole position that gave renewed hope to Renault fans, but his subsequent retirement proved the team wasn't quite like its old self. While the two Brawn drivers struggled, Hamilton made hay in the Hungarian sunshine and drove a brilliant race.

This race would also be remembered for Felipe Massa's shocking fractured skull injury suffered in qualifying along with being the first time that a car equipped with KERS had won a race in F1.

#1 2007 Hungarian GP

Come 2007, there was a new kid on the block in F1 and he had a chip on his shoulder. If McLaren thought they were going to let Lewis Hamilton be their number two driver, they had another thing coming. In a short time, Hamilton was turning heads in the sport and it wasn't sitting kindly with his teammate and former World Champion Fernando Alonso.

The much-publicised feud between the pair came to a head at the Hungarian GP when Alonso allegedly held up Hamilton during qualifying which forced the Brit behind his Spanish teammate at the front of the grid.

Alonso was subsequently given a five-place penalty and had to start in sixth while Hamilton started on pole. The incident meant that McLaren didn't score any constructors points in the race and would come to be the start of a rocky relationship between both drivers for years to come.

Hamilton would go on to win the race ahead of Kimi Raikkonen's Ferrari by the narrowest of margins while Fernando Alonso finished outside the podium spots in fourth.
