Felipe Massa doesn't care about rumours of his future at Ferrari

Felipe Massa is adamant he won’t let rumours about his future at Ferrari get him down.

This week a report emerged claiming that the Brazilian has just two races to “prove his worth” to Ferrari.

According to The Guardian, “Ferrari will not make a decision about his future until after next month’s Italian Grand Prix in Monza, at the earliest, which gives the Brazilian at least two races to make his claim for a fresh contract, beginning with Sunday’s Belgian Grand Prix at Spa.”

The newspaper added that while some at Ferrari are keen to replace Massa, the Italian team’s president Luca di Montezemolo is rooting for the Brazilian.

For now, though, it’s all speculation as Ferrari have refused to comment while Massa himself believes he still has a future with the Italian team.

“I’m confident, and confidence is very important for whatever situation you’re in,” Massa told Autosport. “What people say, I don’t care.

“I care for what I believe [in], and I care for what people say inside the team, in what we are working for inside the team. That is the most important thing.

“Outside is a lot less important than it looks like.”

The 32-year-old also believes his results have not been as good as his form as luck has not always been on his side.

“We’ve had so many races this year when the performance was good, everything was going well and I couldn’t finish in the position I was supposed to.

“It’s important to try and use the car in the best way possible.

“If we do that and it’s clear we did the best we could, that’s positive for the future.”
