Felipe Massa: I will not race for Alonso from now on

Alonso celebrates after Massa handed him a victory at the German GP, 2010

Ferrari’s Felipe Massa, who has just seven races left for the Italian team, has warned his teammate Fernando Alonso that he will no longer support the Spaniard but rather focus on his own career.

Massa, who is yet to sign a contract for next year, will be pushing to the limit to impress potential teams for a drive. He has played second fiddle to Alonso on many occasions after having to move aside to let his teammate past. This even made him lose out a win at the German Grand Prix in 2010.

“I will not race for Alonso from now on. Right from Friday at Singapore I’ll be working for myself.” he told Brazilian broadcaster Galvao Bueno TV Globo.

“I will attack all the time, every lap. It’s come the time to look after myself.” the Brazilian added.

Massa, who will be replaced by Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen next season said he expects Alonso and Raikkonen to collide next year. “I know both Fernando and Kimi on and off the track and I rate them as excellent drivers, but I’m afraid they will collide when sharing the team. I told the bosses to breathe as much as possible while they still can because it will be hard for them to breathe next season.” he said.
