Ferrari boss says team must learn from failure

Ferrari boss Stefano Domenicali has admitted that the development of the car was not on par with Red Bull and that the team needs to learn from the failure to challenge for the 2014 title.

Ferrari were going toe to toe with Red Bull until the summer break, but since then Red Bull have dominated the season, while the Italian dropped to 3rd place.

“I think we have to learn from many points of view,” Domenicali said. “There’s no doubt that last year we could have won the title without having the best car at the beginning of the season and even at the end, but we were very good in other elements of things that make sure you are a winning team.

“This year for sure we were not really good at developing the car and managing the tyres was a big thing for our performance, no doubt.”

He also praised Sebastian Vettel saying, “I think that Sebastian has impressively improved his performance, no doubt, and he has grown, making no mistakes. He was very focused and very aggressive. I think that for sure when you win four titles – even if it’s important to have a fantastic car – he did a great season so congratulations to him.”
