Ferrari has a new driver!

The 19-year-old is part of Ferrari’s Driver Academy

Italian Antonio Fuoco, who has so far been driving in GP3, will make his F1 debut in-season this year. Fuoco, who at 19 will be one of the youngest participants in Formula 1, will join the premier class of racing with the Prancing Horse, albeit only in testing for now.

Fuoco, from Cariati, Italy, has been karting since the age of 4. He is part of the Ferrari Driver Academy, which is an initiative by Scuderia Ferrari, the racing team, to promote its own talent.

Drivers who have found success from the academy include Sergio ‘Checo’ Perez, who drives for Force India alongside German driver Nico Hulkenberg. The first recruit to the programme was successful F1 driver Jules Bianchi, who still has only basic neurological function following a crash at Suzuka in 2014.
