Force India stops development on current car, says Sutil

Adrian Sutil of Force India

According to Adrian Sutil, the Force India team has decided to stop the development on their 2013 challenger in order to focus on next year’s model.

The team had an excellent start to the season which saw them occupy fifth place in the constructors’ championship ahead of McLaren for a long period, but recently they have dropped to the sixth place.

“There is nothing more new planned this year,” Sutil told Auto Motor und Sport.

The decision could prove costly to the team’s hopes of finishing ahead of McLaren.

“However, sometimes you win even if you are only optimizing the existing package. You can still find a lot of time when you are working on improving what you already have. There are a number of ways that we can maximize the package we have,” Sutil added.

However, the driver claimed that he is optimistic about the current season and still believes the team can finish strongly.

“I remain optimistic because I believe that we have not taken everything out of this car and the new tyres. McLaren has worked better but I think we still have a lot of potential, even without updates. We just need a better understanding of the package,” he said.
