Bob Fernley, Force India deputy team principal, said that the other teams did not carry out the tyre test which Mercedes did as it was not helpful.

“I don’t think you can,” Fernley said. “The thing with it is that if you’re going to do a test you need to be transparent about it because it’s not going to do you any favours by trying to do something that you’re going to get caught out on. Even if it’s right, it’s not helpful.”

The issue over the Mercedes tyre test is set to continue with Monaco GP stewards preparing the FIA report. While Red Bull and Ferrari are already protesting the tests, Fernley said that Force India would not be doing the same, saying, “I think Red Bull and Ferrari can do a better job of it, than we can!”

Fernley also added that he was impressed with Adrian Sutil’s performance at the Monaco GP on Sunday, when he finished fifth.

“I was very pleased for him because he was getting just a little frustrated and I can understand that, especially after a year out. So for him to be able to deliver today – especially here at Monaco – and to do the overtaking moves that he did will just do his confidence the power of good so great for him.”
