Jenson Button has left his younger Mclaren team-mate Lewis Hamilton behind by winning two out of the four races this season. Lewis Hamilton who seemed perturbed after his team mate’s victory at China, put up a brave face by slighting away the hints of a split between the Mclaren drivers. The fact is that Jenson Button was until last season an outcaste in the Mclaren team as Hamilton drew all the attention through his British connection and quality racing skills. However, this season Button has been the better driver inspite of Hamilton being faster in three out of four races.

Hamilton said, ”I think it is not bad luck – it is just unfortunate. At the last race I did four pit stops, and I finished only a second behind Jenson. Also the weather has been going up and down. I am really looking forward to a sunny weekend. Still, I think that Jenson is doing a fantastic job, and I will continue to push and I am sure that the results will come at some stage.”

On the other hand, Fernando Alonso is getting restless after having to sit behind Felippe Massa in two races. He exhibited his frustration in the last race by trying and successfully pulling off a risky overtake on his team-mate Massa. With more consistent results and better speeds than Massa, Alonso leads his teammate by 8 points in the driver’s table. More importantly, he is currently only a point behind second position Nico Rosberg. He will look to change that in the next race, for better.

Michael Schumacher who has had a disappointing comeback up-to now in the season, will look to revive his challenge at Spain. Critics find it very unlikely that he will now emerge as anything more than a spoil-sport for his teammate Nico Rosberg. Lewis Hamilton has been vocal in support of the Former World Champion leading up to the race in Spain. He himself had overtaken Schumacher in the last race.

As Mclaren lead the Constructor’s championship, it comes in as a good news for them that their two drivers have clocked fastest time at the first practice for Spain.

Keen eyes will be on the Sebastian Vettel’s car as critics have labeled it the fastest this season, however he has been unable to produce that on the circuit for his Red Bull team.
