Hungarian GP: Vettel-Webber lead the pack in Free Practice 2

F1 Grand Prix of Hungary - Practice

Red Bull drivers Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber led the pack once again in Free Practice 2 for the Hungarian Grand Prix. The Red Bull pair were 1-2 in FP1 earlier in the day.

Vettel’s best time of 1:21.264 was 0.044s faster than his teammate’s time.

Behind them was Romain Grosjean in his Lotus who took the 3rd spot, his best time one and a half tenths of a second behind Vettel. Ferrari duo of Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa were 4th and 5th in this session. The Italian team looked a little off on race pace compared to their rivals on track.

Behind the Scuderia, it was the Silver Arrows of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg who took 6th and 7th ahead of Kimi Raikkonen in 8th and Jenson Button in 9th. This was the first day where the Mercedes drivers were trying out the new tyres that have already tested by the other teams at the Silverstone test last week.

In 10th place was Force India’s Adrian Sutil, who is competing in his 100th GP this weekend.

With temperatures set to increase tomorrow, the conditions will play into the hands of Red Bull and Lotus while Mercedes may suffer degradation issues. The soft tyres look mighty quick and Qualifying should be a cracker.
