Jenson Button: F1 not as boring as Schumi Era

2009 World Champion and current McLaren Mercedes driver has said that the current dominance by Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel is not as boring as it was during the Michael Schumacher era of 2000-2004.

The Briton told Press Association Sport, “It’s different from what I remember with Michael. They (Red Bull) have won the Championship for three years and they are going to win it again – I think.”

“But the racing seems more fun these days, there is more action and there are a lot of different people winning Grand Prixs. You also have four different teams winning races now – which should be five, and it will be five in the future, as I include us.

“But the racing is better than when Michael won the Championship and with Michael it felt like ‘Well, he is going to win it next year as well’. But I don’t think it feels like that now. Every year it doesn’t feel like ‘Well, Sebastian is going to win it again’.

“It feels as though you come out of the blocks and everyone is fighting for victories, but they get stronger through the year – or we and the other teams are not as strong as them.”

Sebastian Vettel has taken the sport by storm having taken three back to back World Championships and well on his way to a 4th consecutive Championship. His team Red Bull are on the quest for their 4th Consecutive Championship having dominated every season from 2010.

Vettel has a margin of 53 points up front after taking three victories in the last 4 races, while his team lead the Championship by 105 points after 6 wins from 12 races.

Even after such a staggering lead, we have exciting races with 5 drivers up there fighting for victory in each race.
