The 28-year-old had his best season to date as he managed to score 35 goals in all competitions and played a key role in his team, Paris Saint-Germain's historic treble-winning campaign in the 2024/25 season. The dominant French team had one of the most successful campaigns in club football as they won four trophies in one year, including Ligue 1 and the Champions League.

Dembele triumphed over the likes of Lamine Yamal, Vitinha, Mohammed Salah, and Raphinha to win the prestigious award. On his Instagram Story, Esteban Ocon reshared Ousmane Dembele's achievement and gave a four-word reaction to the latter's award, saying:

Esteban Ocon reflects on his weekend in Baku

Haas F1 driver Esteban Ocon believed that it was the right strategy that he and the team adopted at the start of the race when he pitted twice under the safety car to undercut his rivals.

As per F1.com, the 28-year-old reflected and said:

“It was a good start, and we tried a really aggressive strategy. It’s a bit of a shame on that side, but we’ll review. It’s been a difficult weekend for us, and there are a lot of things to improve on for the next race, and this is what we’ll look out for in Singapore. We need to have a clean sweep with no issues – a healthy weekend – which is what we’re all asking for.”

Haas F1 team boss Ayao Komatsu also claimed that he believed that Ocon had the right strategy but could not make any progress, adding:

"For Esteban, I think the strategy was right, but in terms of balance limitation, it wasn’t quite there for him to make further progress. It’s frustrating because over a whole weekend you can make one mistake and that defines it – but unfortunately that’s the nature of the game in Formula 1. We’ve got the car and the drivers, so it will happen.”

Esteban Ocon has failed to score any points in the main race, his P10 finish in the 2025 Austrian Grand Prix in late June, and has been outperformed by his teammate Oliver Bearman more regularly ever since.
