The 2024 F1 Chinese Grand Prix will reportedly witness the sport's first "wearable" trophy, which can also light up once the driver wears it around the neck.

As F1 heads to China for the first time since 2019, special arrangements can already be witnessed in the form of a unique trophy that will reportedly be presented to the winner. Designed by Pininfarina, the circular trophy will be worn by the winner around their neck at the end of the race.

The trophy is reportedly inspired by the laurel wreaths that winners wore in the early era. It is covered in sensors that trigger the trophy to light up once the driver wears it around their neck.

F1's trophy innovations have been a constant throughout the years. In 2023, the Japanese GP witnessed trophies that lit up in the colors of the podium driver's nationalities when kissed. Following that, this unique trophy for the returning Chinese Grand Prix is an aesthetic addition to the cabinet.

The 2024 Chinese Grand Prix is set to be a completely new experience for multiple drivers on the grid. The race has been missing from the calendar since 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic and many new faces have since joined the grid. This is also the home race for Sauber driver Zhou Guanyu, who is the first Chinese driver in the history of Formula 1.

Yuki Tsunoda, Logan Sargeant, and Oscar Piastri will all be racing on the track for the first time. While they might consider it as yet another weekend of Grand Prix racing, the weather conditions might bring in more challenges.

A mix of dry and wet conditions await F1 at Shanghai for the Chinese Grand Prix
