Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur did not hold back in his comments while addressing the rumors around his future with the team, terming them as "disrespectful" ahead of the 2025 Canadian Grand Prix. Heading into the race weekend in Montreal, the Frenchman has been in the news, with 'some' in the Italian media writing about his potential exit from the Maranello-based outfit at the end of the 2025 season.

The 57-year-old joined the Prancing Horses at the start of the 2023 season and has led them to a P3 and P2 finish in the Constructors' Championship in 2023 and 2024, respectively. Although the beginning of the current campaign has been a blow to their title aspirations, Ferrari is currently sitting in P2 in the Constructors' standings.

Speaking at the team principal's press conference, Fred Vasseur mentioned that he was unable to understand the target of the rumors but called out the media outlets for giving "s***" about the team, saying:

"It's some Italian media, it’s not all the Italian media. It’s not about myself, I think, because this I can manage. It’s more about the people of the team. To throw their name like this, I think it’s just disrespectful—for them, for their family. And we had the case last year with the chief of aero already.

"We had some other names this season. I don’t know the target. I don’t understand the target. Perhaps it’s to give s**t to the team, but in this case, I don’t see the point. Perhaps it’s for them the only way to exist. This is probably more the reason. But it’s really hurting the team. It’s, at one stage, a lack of focus."

It was heavily reported that the next couple of months would be critical for Vasseur's future at the team as his contract with Ferrari is up at the end of the 2025 season.

Ferrari team boss analyzes their pace in Canada after the Friday Practice sessions

Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur stated that the pace in the SF-25 around the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve was "okay" as the former believed that they had made a step in pace in the last couple of weeks.

Speaking to the media, the Frenchman reflected on the subject and said:

"The pace this morning was okay for Charles before the crash. And with Lewis it was okay also. We made a step, I think, if you compare to the first races— now we came back to P2, we had the last three or four weekends with strong pace. It was already the case at the beginning, but more on the race pace than the quali pace."

Ferrari has had a rough time in Canada in the last two years, with both Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz even having a double DNF in the 2024 edition of the race weekend.
