Ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix weekend, the Formula 1 world was treated to a barrage of news centered around Ferrari’s top brass reportedly becoming increasingly dissatisfied with the team principal, particularly after the underwhelming start the Italian outfit has had to the 2025 season. Vasseur was quizzed about these reports during his media interaction, and the French motorsport executive did not mince his words.

Detailing his thoughts, as quoted by X (formerly Twitter) user @leclercsletters, Fred Vasseur appeared to take a subtle jab at the hierarchy of the Maranello team.

Fred Vasseur has served as team principal of Scuderia Ferrari since the start of the 2023 season. In that time, the 57-year-old has led the Italian outfit to third and second place finishes respectively in the Constructors’ Championship.

However, the 2025 season has so far unfolded in a manner neither Vasseur nor the Ferrari hierarchy would have hoped for.

Fred Vasseur slams Italian media over reports about his future

Fred Vasseur did not hold back his thoughts on the Italian press reporting on his future being in doubt. The Ferrari team boss expressed his displeasure with the news circulating about his potential dismissal.

Sharing his thoughts during the Canadian Grand Prix weekend, Vasseur labeled the reports as disrespectful and very harsh. He also acknowledged that journalists should consider that the individuals at Ferrari have their respective families.

"It's some of the Italian media, not all of the Italian media. It's not about myself because this I can manage, it's more the people of the team. To use their name like this is disrespectful to them and their family,” he said via Sky Sports.

"I don't understand the target. Perhaps it's to give **** to the team. In this case, I don't see the point. Perhaps for them (publications) it's the only way to exist. This is probably more the reason.
…To decide one day 'this one will be replaced, this one is useless'. Honestly, it's very harsh. These journalists need to consider these people have family. This is completely disrespectful."

The reports of Fred Vasseur’s possible sacking have largely been discredited by several individuals within the team, with both Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc also refuting such claims during their media rounds ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix.

Vasseur was brought in ahead of the 2023 season to replace Mattia Binotto, following an underwhelming 2022 campaign that dipped significantly despite an impressive start.
