Michael Schumacher's brother Ralf Schumacher claims Helmut Marko has an issue with the Schumacher family name. The Sky presenter believes Mick Schumacher would have been a suitable teammate to Yuki Tsunoda instead of Nyck de Vries in 2023.

Mick Schumacher was let go from Haas at the end of the 2022 season after the young driver was not as competitive as his team would have liked. The former F2 champion was routinely outperformed by his older teammate Kevin Magnussen and was subsequently axed from the American squad.

At the same time, Pierre Gasly announced that he was moving from AlphaTauri to Alpine, giving Mick the chance to start alongside Yuki Tsunoda. However, as per Ralf Schumacher, Helmut Marko didn't consider the German driver for the AlphaTauri seat as he has something against the Schumacher family name.

Fast forward to today and Gasly's replacement Nyck de Vries is on the verge of being fired by Marko.

Speaking about the Nyck de Vries-AlphaTauri saga in a video for Sky, Michael Schumacher's brother said:

"Or you keep your hands off it and then have to jump over your own shadow and take someone who has more experience. Then came Dr. Helmut Marko, who didn't want it for personal reasons or for whatever reason. Helmut Marko seems to have a problem with the name Schumacher."

Eddie Jordan compares Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton

Former F1 team owner Eddie Jordan believes that if Lewis Hamilton had the same equipment as Michael Schumacher, he would still surpass him by a small margin. Despite both drivers having won seven championship titles, Hamilton has achieved greater recognition in terms of wins and podium finishes.

With 12 more victories and additional podium placements, Hamilton holds a slight edge over Schumacher. However, the racing community remains divided on who deserves the title of the greatest of all time (GOAT) in the sport. Jordan, who introduced Schumacher to F1 racing in 1991 through his team Jordan Grand Prix, shared his perspective on these two legendary figures in motorsport.

According to Jordan, Schumacher displayed a more aggressive driving style during his prime, whereas Lewis Hamilton's exceptional control would give him an advantage if they were provided with identical machinery.

He told OLBG:

“Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher were from different eras in their peak. I'd hate to see them battle because it would be fireworks. Schumacher would stick his elbows out more than Hamilton, but Hamilton has that extra piece of control.
"If it was over six races, then I'd say it would be 3-3. I'll stick my neck out and say that Hamilton just about edges Schumacher if they were both driving in the same car.”

The debate over the greatest of all time (GOAT) in Formula 1 may continue indefinitely, but one thing is undeniable: both drivers are unquestionably F1 legends and among the greatest in the sport's history.
