Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport has recently claimed that Ferrari have approached Lewis Hamilton for a move in the 2024 F1 season. The seven-time world champion is yet to sign a new contract with Mercedes.

Furthermore, as soon as the Silver Arrows' on-track performance dipped in 2022, question marks were raised over whether Lewis Hamilton would stick around or leave the team.

The Italian publication essentially built their claims based on a Daily Mail report that said that the Maranello-based team had offered a contract worth £40 million to Lewis Hamilton. La Gazzetta dello Sport also stated several difficulties that prevent the deal from moving forward.

Of course, the man himself has stated countless times that his loyalty lies with Mercedes, and he will continue to work hard with them to improve the car. This is also one of the major roadblocks that is preventing Ferrari from sealing the deal with the seven-time world champion.

As of now, nothing can be said for sure about Hamilton's future. On the one hand, Mercedes and Toto Wolff are trying their best to give the seven-time world champion a good contract and keep him for the rest of his career.

On the other hand, winning races and driving for the Italian team could be a fascinating challenge for the British driver. In the past, he has stated that he was curious to experience Ferrari as a driver and what it would feel like.

The legendary F1 driver's future hangs in the balance at the moment.

Lewis Hamilton on moving to McLaren or Ferrari in the future

Lewis Hamilton himself has addressed and admitted that he had thought of moving away from Mercedes and joining his former team, McLaren, and even Ferrari. He stated how he saw Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz and thought about what it would feel like to drive for the legendary Italian team. He told ESPN:

"I'd be lying if I said I'd never thought about ending my career anywhere else. I started at McLaren, I'd like to think I'll always be a part of the McLaren family. I thought about what it would look like if I was at McLaren one day.
"I thought about and watched the Ferrari drivers on the screens at the track, and of course you wonder what it would be like to be in red. Then I look at my current team and think, this is my home. I'm happy where I am. I haven't signed a contract yet, but we are working on one."

However, he concluded that he still has a soft spot for Mercedes and will continue to work with the Silver Arrows. Though he has not signed a new contract, he is confident that both parties will come to an agreement.
