Aston Martin has officially confirmed that Lance Stroll will return behind the wheel at the 2025 Canadian Grand Prix. He missed the last race at Barcelona due to significant pain in his hand and wrists.
Stroll started the 2025 Spanish Grand Prix as usual. He featured in the qualifying session and finished P14. However, before the race was flagged on Sunday at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Aston Martin announced that the Canadian driver would skip the race.
The team claimed that Stroll complained of significant pain in his hand and wrist, and the medical team deemed him unfit to race. The incident was reportedly linked to the wrist surgery the driver underwent in 2023 after he sustained injuries due to a bike accident.
Meanwhile, ahead of the 2025 Canadian GP, scheduled for June 15, Lance Stroll has confirmed his return to the grid at his home Grand Prix. In an official statement released on Aston Martin's X handle, the driver stated that he felt good after necessary procedures on his wrist, as he practiced laps at the Paul Ricard circuit earlier this week to test his endurance.
“I am excited to get back behind the wheel with the team for my home Grand Prix this weekend. I was always going to fight hard to be ready to race in front of the Montreal crowd. I’m feeling good after my procedure and put some laps in at Paul Ricard this week to prepare. Thanks for all the support; see you guys this weekend!" Stroll said in a statement.
Due to Stroll's injury in Barcelona, Aston Martin fielded only one driver, Fernando Alonso, who finished P9 to score his first two points of the season.
What did Aston Martin say about Lance Stroll's injury?

At the 2025 Spanish Grand Prix, Aston Martin shared that Lance Stroll will miss the race due to pain in his hand and wrist. In an official statement, the team stated that the driver has been experiencing discomfort for six weeks. The team of doctors monitored him and suggested that Stroll get a procedure done for quick recovery.
“Over the course of the past six weeks Lance has been experiencing pain in his hand and wrist, which his medical consultant believes is in relation to the procedure he underwent in 2023. As a result, his medical team has confirmed that he will not race tomorrow, and he will undergo a procedure to rectify these issues before focusing on his recovery," Aston Martin said in a statement, via Formula 1.
However, according to rumors, the injury was a smokescreen used by the Silverstone-based squad to hide Stroll's alleged outburst. According to the BBC, the Canadian driver was upset with his qualifying session results in Barcelona, and in a fit of rage, he threw things in the garage and swore at team members.
During this frustrating act, Stroll reportedly injured himself, leading to his exclusion from the race on Sunday.
