With two wins and a podium finish in the last four races, Lewis Hamilton is looking to finish his last season with Mercedes-AMG on a high note. Amidst the ongoing summer break, the British driver enjoyed some downtime with his trusted race engineer, Peter 'Bono' Bonnington. The duo also engaged in a fun-filled activity.

Hamilton, widely considered one of Formula 1's greatest drivers, has faced challenges in recent seasons. Following the 2021 championship, the British star struggled to match the pace of front-runners like Max Verstappen (Red Bull Racing) and Charles Leclerc (Ferrari). Compounding his difficulties were the underperforming Mercedes-AMG W13 and W14 cars of 2022 and 2023, respectively.

Despite the odds, the 38-year-old driver managed to brave the storm and was committed to improving the car. While the performance of the W15 seemed underwhelming at the start of the 2024 season, critical upgrades introduced by the team during the 2024 season boosted the competitiveness of both Hamilton and his teammate, George Russell, enabling them to challenge the race leaders.

With a significantly improved car at his disposal, Hamiton clinched his 104th career victory at the British Grand Prix, ending a 945-day winless streak since the 2021 Saudi Arabian GP. The seven-time world champion was also promoted to the top step in the Belgian Grand Prix after his teammate was disqualified due to an underweight race car.

Now, amidst the mid-season summer break, Hamilton engaged in some fun activities with his Mercedes crew. With a tiny microphone in hand, the #44 driver tested his race engineer, Bono, with some silly questions.

"If you could go anywhere in the world, money wasn't an issue, where would you go?" Hamilton questioned. (0:08 onwards).
"Antarctica. Yeah, it's nice and quiet. Not too people-ly. Penguin-ey, but not too people-ly," Bonnington said in response. (0:16 onwards).

The unique interaction was shared on X by Mercedes-AMG. Here's a look at the post, captioned:

“He'll bring a good mentality to the team" Oliver Bearman looking forward to learning from Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari

With 105 wins and 201 podiums in over 340 race starts so far, Lewis Hamilton is one of the most experienced drivers on the 2024 Formula 1 grid. The 38-year-old will bring his wealth of experience to the iconic Ferrari team when he joins them for the 2025 season.

During a recent interview with Sky Sports F1, Oliver Bearman, the 18-year-old Ferrari Academy driver, claimed that Hamilton would prove to be a great asset to the Scarlet Red F1 team.

“I think he'll bring a lot of experience to the team. He's won seven world championships," Bearman said, highlighting Hamilton's caliber.
“He'll bring a good mentality to the team, a winning mentality, but of course his talent is undeniable. He's one of the best to have ever done it. It's great that in some way he can share his experience with me slightly. I hope that I will learn a lot from him," he further added.

As for Bearman, he will be joining Haas as a full-time driver in 2025. He is currently the youngest driver to have driven and scored points for Ferrari (7th place finish at Jeddah this year, as a substitute for Carlos Sainz).
