Meanwhile, the 2025 season has been particularly tough for Gasly. In nine races, he managed to accumulate 11 points and landed P14 in the drivers' championship race. At the beginning of the season, he had rookie Jack Doohan as a teammate.

However, due to inconsistent performances, Doohan was replaced by reserve Franco Colapinto after six races. Jack, though, hasn't been sacked and instead moved back to the reserve driver role.

The 2026 season could likely change the pecking order as new engine regulations are set to be enforced. Alpine, meanwhile, will have Mercedes engines as new customers.

As per ongoing rumors, Mercedes is reportedly confident of their power unit being able to dominate the track, which could be a good sign for customer teams.

Alpine driver Pierre Gasly, meanwhile, is also hopeful of a better future next year as he sees himself fighting for the title. Talking to Motorsport Week at the Australian Grand Prix, he said:

“I’m very interested because in 2026 I could be world champion, so that’s obviously something that I’m putting a lot of focus on. I’m fully dedicated and focused on ’25, but as a team we’re well aware that we know what’s on the table for this year, and you know we know what’s on the table for '26."

“The strategy has already been put in place for next year. But as I mentioned at the F1 launch, if it was down to me, I’ll just put all the guys and all the money towards next year because that’s where, you know, whether I finish eighth, ninth, sixth, or seventh doesn’t really matter, but next year we can fight for wins and podiums. That’s something that’s really meaningful."

Pierre Gasly has been racing in F1 since 2017, and in 162 race starts, he has won just a single Grand Prix.
