Fans are displeased with Charles Leclerc's final hotlap mishap in Austria, which ended him on P6 on the grid for Sunday's race. Pushing hard, he went wide in the final sector and had to abandon his lap.

Ferrari's Leclerc had quite a moment during the qualifying session of the 2024 F1 Austrian GP. The team looked strong enough to qualify within the top five, however, Leclerc might have pushed too much around the track.

On his final push lap, Leclerc made a series of errors. Entering turn 6, he oversteered which messed up his next two corners. After that, heading into turn 9, he pushed too hard and went on the newly introduced gravel trap and lost the car. He had to abandon that lap and since there was no more time to start a new one, he qualified in P6.

Fans were seemingly disappointed after the event, as Ferrari have not performed very well on the track so far. This particular user also called Leclerc the "most overrated" driver on the F1 grid.

"Leclerc drives worse than I do in a video game," claimed another user.

Some fans also questioned why Ferrari are replacing Carlos Sainz in 2025 instead of Leclerc.

"Need to do better," another fan stated."Nah because why is Sainz the one being replaced?"

It was also suspected that the #16 Ferrari might have picked up some damage after a little bumpy ride on the gravel.

"I think he broke everything under the car," a fan wrote.

Charles Leclerc predicted a disappointing qualifying for Ferrari as they had no "miracle solution"

The Italian outfit have not looked too strong so far during the Austrian GP. Although they looked extremely close to Red Bull earlier in the season, both McLaren and Mercedes have seemingly out-developed them (at least for this race).

Currently, Charles Leclerc has qualified for P6, his teammate Carlos Sainz will start the race from P4. This is seemingly not a very good stat for a team that was competing for wins earlier. However, Leclerc had predicted a qualifying session like this.

Speaking to the media earlier after the Sprint session, Charles Leclerc revealed that there are performance issues with the car and that there is no "miracle solution."

"The first lap was positive, it was more complicated afterwards because I had to manage the temperature of the brakes. The real problem is performance, we are in difficulty. Qualifying? I'm not going to lie, at the moment there is no miracle solution," Leclerc said.
