Lewis Hamilton has claimed that he does not need 'vindication' from anyone regarding his impending move to Ferrari from Mercedes in the 2025 season.

The seven-time world champion will depart from the German team at the end of the 2024 season after spending 12 years with them and winning six driver's championships. The move caught everyone by surprise as the Brit had signed a contract extension in the summer of last year for a two-year deal.

Speaking to the media ahead of the Chinese GP, including Sportskeeda, Lewis Hamilton pointed out that he hasn't questioned the move to the Scuderia Ferrari for a moment despite criticism about his recent performances in the first four races. He said:

"Well, I don't feel like I need my decision vindicating. I think I know what's right for me, and that hasn't changed since the moment that I made the decision. There's not been a moment where I've questioned it, and I'm not swayed by other people's comments.
"Even today, there's people continuing to talk sh*t, and it will continue on for the rest of the year. And I'll have to just do what I did in the previous time. Only you can know what was right for you. And it will be an exciting time for me."

Lewis Hamilton cites Fernando Alonso example while commenting about his desire to continue racing

Lewis Hamilton has stated that he plans to continue racing in his 40s similar to his rival and former McLaren teammate Fernando Alonso, who signed a contract extension with Aston Martin that will see him racing at least till he is 45.

The Mercedes driver told the press:

"I am going to be racing for quite some time still. So, it's definitely good that he's still around, I hope that he keeps going for a little bit longer as well.
"I never thought that I'd be racing into my 40s. I'm pretty sure I said I wouldn't go into my 40s racing, but I think it's such a crazy trip, life, that I don't feel like I'm nearly 40 years old. I feel really young still."

Lewis Hamilton signed a two-year deal with Ferrari that would see him racing for the Prancing Horse at least till 43. Since he is still operating at a high level, we might see him clinch his elusive eighth world championship in the coming years.
