"This is a joke right?": Fans react as Charles Leclerc ruled out of F1 Canadian GP FP2

Charles Leclerc had a day to forget at the 2025 Canadian GP as the Ferrari driver crashed out of FP1 on Friday, June 13. Leclerc triggered a red flag just 15 minutes into the session after he lost control of his car on turn 3. As a result, he was ruled out of FP2. Fans took to social media to share their reactions to the Monegasque's early exit in Montreal.

Friday's practice session started with the drivers experiencing the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, but it did not turn out to be one worth remembering for Leclerc. The #16 driver suffered an early lock-up up turn 3 on one of his flying laps and skipped across the grass to clip the wall.

As a result, he destroyed his left front and then spun again to go rearwards into the wall on turn 4. As per reports, Ferrari called off his session immediately, and the driver did not participate in the FP2.

Following his crash, the Ferrari star took to his team radio and said:

"Sorry, I'm in the wall. Yeah my bad. I should've gone straight. I thought I will just make it but I clipped the wall."

As Leclerc's crash came into the limelight, fans on social media shared their reactions to the above X post. One fan wrote:

"THIS IS A JOKE RIGHT?"

However, before his unfortunate crash, Leclerc raced nine laps and produced his best with a 1:13.885 finish, which helped him secure the tenth position in the FP1 leaderboard.


Ferrari explains why Charles Leclerc did not participate in FP2

Charles Leclerc did not participate in FP2 after his costly crash in FP1. The Monegasque driver's unfortunate crash cost him and Ferrari dearly as the #16 driver spent just 15 mins on the circuit.

Explaining the crash, Ferrari posted an update on X, writing:

"Due to the damage to his car sustained in the crash in FP1, Charles Leclerc will not take part in FP2, as the survival cell on his SF-25 needs to be replaced. As per the regulations, Charles will be able to drive in FP3."

Leclerc's teammate Lewis Hamilton finished FP1 with P5 was P8 in the second session on Friday. The defending champion Max Verstappen of Red Bull finished FP1 on top, ahead of the Williams duo of Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz. In FP2, George Russell clinched the P1, ahead of McLaren's Lando Norris and Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli.
