The Toto Wolff-led Mercedes Formula 1 team has had a pretty up-and-down 2025 season. In line with this and the recent triple header (Emilia-Romagna, Monaco, and Spain), he has asserted that his team needed to be 'more consistent' going forward.

After the first nine rounds, the Brackley-based Mercedes outfit was in third place in the Constructors' championship with 159 points. Ahead of them are Ferrari (165 points) and the ultra-dominant McLaren outfit (362 points).

With the Canadian Grand Prix weekend slated to take place this week, Toto Wolff has come up with the following verdict:

"We're eager to get back on track in Montreal after a challenging triple header. We showed an improved performance in Barcelona and that is something for us to build on," Wolff said.

He further added:

"However, we know we need to be more consistent, and continue to make progress with the W16, if we are to rediscover some of our form from earlier in the season. We enjoyed a strong race here in 2024, and I hope we can repeat that level of performance this time round."

In Round 8, the Spanish Grand Prix (Circuit De Barcelona-Catalunya), Mercedes' George Russell managed a fourth-place finish, whereas his rookie teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli came away with an unfortunate DNF.

Toto Wolff expects an 'exciting race' at Gilles Villeneuve F1 circuit

The Canadian Grand Prix has often thrown wet challenges in the way of the drivers, thanks to Montreal's typical weather. In 2024, the spectators witnessed a tricky race at the Gilles Villeneuve circuit under wet conditions that caused various kinds of problems for the drivers.

In line with this and the excitement the race has produced over the years, Mercedes boss, Toto Wolff, had the following to add:

"The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is a great track with its mix of low-speed corners and long straights often creating an exciting race. Montreal is a superb host city for F1 too and the fans always create a brilliant atmosphere," Wolff said.

The Brackley-based Mercedes Formula 1 team ended the 2024 season in a disappointing fourth position in the Constructors' standings. While they are in third place this year, they could further slip backward if Red Bull manages to sort out its second driver and RB21 issues.

The fight for second place is extremely tight, and even a single good or bad race weekend could turn the tide in the favor of teams like Ferrari, Red Bull, and Mercedes. The Woking-based McLaren Formula 1 team has been operating in a league of their own this year, and the Constructors' title is pretty much a formality for them.

However, for second place in the Constructors', the battle is wide open between Red Bull, Ferrari, and Toto Wolff's Mercedes F1 team.
