The former PSG striker even got the honor of waving the chequered flag for Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc after he won his home race for the first time in his F1 career.

However, it was Mbappe and Vasseur's chat on the grid ahead of the start of the main race that caught the attention of the fans. A fan shared a picture of them spotted together during the Monaco GP on their X account.

This prompted F1 fans to give their reactions to the picture, with some of them hilariously agreeing Vasseur would sign the footballer for Ferrari given the hiring spree the team has been on since the beginning of the 2024 season.

"Ferrari 3rd driver confirmed," another fan poked fun.
"Hahaha the way things are going for Fred he might ask Donald Trump as well to sign up as Key Sponsor !!!" one fan remarked hilariously.

Ferrari team boss heaps praise on Charles Leclerc after his Monaco GP win

Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur stated that Charles Leclerc's win in his home race would surely take the 'weight off his shoulders'.

As per F1.com, the Frenchman spoke about how the victory in the iconic race could relax the Monegasque and help him take a 'step forward', saying:

“First it will stop [people] asking each year what could happen next year, what will happen this week… It’s behind us. But I think it was an important one. He had a kind of weight on his shoulders for years now about the win in Monaco."
“It was not in doubt that he was under pressure with this. But it’s not just about Monaco, I think probably for his own self-confidence and for the approach he has at all the other events, Charles will do a step forward for sure.”

Vasseur even spoke about how Leclerc's preparation in the 2024 season differed from last year, claiming the driver was more 'nervous' then:

"Last year I think he was a bit nervous, and from the beginning of the weekend, he was a bit under tension. This year he was much more relaxed from the beginning."

The victory in Monaco has helped the Italian team close the gap on Red Bull in the Constructors Championship to 24 points after eight races and two sprints. Charles Leclerc has also closed the gap on Max Verstappen in the Drivers Championship after his win to 31 points as the Dutch driver finished P6 in the Monaco GP.
