According to reports on Sky Sports, Mercedes team Principal Ross Brawn is all set to leave the team at the end of the season after talks about a future contract apparently broke down.

Brawn’s future was put up for discussion ever since Toto Wolff took over as the role of Executive director of the team at start of the season and speculations were further ignited when Paddy Lowe joined the team from McLaren.

The departure of Brawn is said to be a soft transition, and he will hand over the torch to Wolff and Lowe once he leaves the team.

“The transition will eventually be handing over to Toto and Paddy; the question is timing. We want the timing that’s most effective for the team. I want the team to be competitive next year and I want the team to at least be in a position to win the World Championship, and we’re just deciding the best way of managing that,” Brawn said last week.

“That’s the discussion that’s going on and we’ll let you know when we know what we’re going to do,” he added.

The team is yet to confirm anything officially and the spokesperson refused to comment on the issue. Brawn has won 16 drivers’ and constructors’ championship and McLaren will be the favorite to snatch him if he leaves.
