Sebastian Vettel clinched the pole position of the Japanese grand prix at the Suzuka and moved one step closer to claiming his second drivers’ title. McLaren’s Jenson button will start on the front row following a lead of 0.009s by Vettel. Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa filled the second row. This is 12th pole position of the season for Vettel.
Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso will start 5th on the grid ahead of Red Bull’s Mark Webber. Renault’s Bruno Senna out-paced Vitaly Petrov and will start in fourth row on the grid with Michael Schumacher in 7th place. Sauber’s Kamui Kobayashi who set the fastest time in Q1 managed to out-qualify two Force India cars in Q2. The only Japanes on 2011 grid will start from 10 place.
Force India’s Adrian Sutil and Paul di Resta will start the race in 11 th and 12th on the grid followed by two Williams’ of Barrichello and Maldonado. Sebastien Buemi and Jaime Alguersuari of the Toro Rosso will join the grid behind Williams.
