In the 1998 Australian Grand Prix, the McLaren of Mika Häkkinen and Coulthard lapped the entire field, marching to a dominant 1-2 finish. The result was, however, clouded by controversy when Coulthard slowed-down with two laps remaining, allowing Häkkinen to pass, honouring a pre-race agreement between the pair that whoever made it to the first corner in the lead on lap one would be allowed to win.
