How did Ayrton Senna crash in 1994?

Ayrton Senna crash

Ayrton Senna had won 3 Formula One titles before crashing to death in the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.

The first race of 1994 Formula One started off in Brazil where Senna took pole position but had to taste defeat at the hands of Michael Schumacher, when he spun his car out of the race on lap 56. The second race at Pacific Grand Prix saw a similar fate for Senna, where the Brazilian took his car to pole position but had to swallow yet another disappointing end when Mika Hakkinen hit his car from behind.

The Brazilian racing driver couldn’t have thought for a worse start. He ensured two consecutive pole position but all futile as he crashed in both these races.

Senna had already stated before the start of the season that, “I have a very negative feeling about driving the car and driving it on the limit and so on … Some of that is down to the lack of electronic change. Also, the car has its own characteristics which I’m not fully confident in yet.” It was clear he was worried about the state of the car and further added, “It’s going to be a season with lots of accidents, and I’ll risk saying that we’ll be lucky if something really serious doesn’t happen.”

Senna never wanted to race in a car which had no consistent performance. This was really unsporting of the Williams-Renault team as they could’ve have easily foreseen the Ayrton Senna crash in the third race of the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.

There have been many theories on how Ayrton Senna lost control during his fateful crash. Here is another theory about the Ayrton Senna crash in the 1994 San Marino GP, Imola, Italy.
