Nico Rosberg may have won the 2016 world championship in Formula One but speed is not something policemen like as the German found out recently. The ex-Mercedes and Williams driver found that out the harsh way in France at the Le Castellet.

Rosberg made an early entry in Formula One, in 2006, after winning the GP2 championship but struggled in his first few years. It did not help that his team, Williams, had lost their pace since the start of the decade.

He did manage some podiums here and there but his winning streak started only in 2013 when Mercedes started getting into their groove. 2014 kick-started a period of dominance for them but his childhood friend and teammate, Hamilton, was the beneficiary in both 2014 and 2015, with Rosberg giving him a close fight.

2016 was his crowning moment though, as he battled Hamilton, albeit with a little bit of luck and won it in the last race at Abu Dhabi, in which he was stuck behind his teammate as the Brit refused to yield, in the hope that Rosberg would be passed by Vettel and the chasing pack.

It was a bitter end to their long-time friendship and Rosberg flummoxed everyone when he announced his retirement, having been content with winning the championship and proving to the world that he too was capable of it.

Many felt that it was a hasty decision but it was understandable from his point of view, with the battles with Hamilton taking a huge toll on his mind and body and he also wanted to spend more time with his family.

Since then, he has turned his attention to punditry, appearing on a few Formula 1 interviews but he has mainly kept himself occupied with making YouTube vlogs, through which we witnessed this gem.

Be careful next time, Nico!
