#5 Riyad Mahrez- Leicester City to Manchester City- £61 million

Manchester City wasn’t too active in the transfer window this summer, but in all honesty, there aren’t too many areas that they can improve in. There was interest in a couple of midfielders as they looked to provide some backup to Fernandinho, but that never materialised. In the end, it was only Mahrez who made the move to the Etihad Stadium, for a club-record fee.
There was some debate over the role he may play at City this season. They already had an embarrassment of riches in attacking areas, and it was difficult to see where Mahrez would get his opportunity. He appears to have been gifted the opportunity by Kevin de Bruyne’s injury though, and he will hope to take advantage of that, and take the chance to prove that he is worth the amount of money City shelled out for him in the summer.
