Much was expected from the English forward when he was bought by Manchester United back in 2004 for £25.6 million and Wayne Rooney did not disappoint. The striker delivered for the Red Devils on a regular basis and has scored as many as 245 goals for United. Rooney is the top goal scorer in Premier League history for a single club and is set to break the all-time goal scoring record at Manchester United as well.
The national team captain has been honoured with the England Player of the Year on four occasions and is also the highest goal scorer for the Three Lions ever. Back in Euro 2004, he became the youngest goal scorer in the history of the European Championships.
Apart from individual records, Rooney was part of Manchester United’s’ squads which won several major titles and he is undoubtedly one of the best strikers England ever had. No wonder he has a large number of followers on Facebook.
