10 worst signings of the Premier League season

Chelsea v Newcastle United - FA Cup 2017/18
Ross Barkley was signed when he was injured, and the risk on him hasn't paid off.

#5 Andre Gray (Watford) - £18.2 million

Watford v Crystal Palace - Premier League
Gray was expected to lead Watford's attack this season

Burnley were criticized for their decision to sell Andre Gray in the summer, who was signed by Watford for a club record fee of £18.2 million. It was expected that Burnley would struggle without their front-man but Gray's new club were the ones who found the going tough this year.

The English forward contributed just 5 goals and 4 assists despite being available for the majority of the campaign; disappointing numbers for a club record signing.

With the likes of Troy Deeney and Stefano Okaka struggling to score goals, it was expected that Gray would be their problem solver. Though his link-up play and touches in front of goal were decent, he was guilty of missing good chances at important moments. Watford will hope that Gray has a better second season to solve their striker woes.
