The 29-year-old currently plays his football in Thailand but was once expected to be scoring goals in Europe's very best leagues. At the 2009 U20 World Cup in Egypt, Adiyiah swept the individual awards winning both the Golden Ball and the Golden Boot trophies as he starred in Ghana's winning team.

His eight goals in just seven games got the biggest clubs in Europe excited and immediately after the tournament, Adiyiah signed with Italian powerhouse AC Milan. Adiyiah was then included in Ghana's 2010 World Cup squad in South Africa at just 20 years old. In the very last minute of the quarter-final fixture vs Uruguay, Adiyiah was sent on to try to win the game for the African nation.

Adiyiah's last-minute header was famously saved on the line by Luis Suárez, who fisted the ball away with his hands. Asamoah Gyan missed the resulting penalty and the game went onto dreaded penalty kicks. Adiyiah missed Ghana's fourth penalty kick and Uruguay scored their following kick sending Ghana out of World Cup and hence missing a great chance to be the first African nation in a World Cup semi-final.
