Butland is a highly rated goalkeeper in the Premier League

Liverpool are having a massively improved season so far under the German boss, Jurgen Klopp. The Reds currently sit third in the Premier League table behind their arch-rivals Manchester United.

If Liverpool manage to keep hold of the spot, it would be their best finish since the 2013-14 season. However, Liverpool would clearly have been title challengers this season if it was not for their shambolic defensive line.

The Liverpool defence has committed some childish mistakes in the dying moments of the game which have cost them points.

It would not be unfair to say that their goalkeeping department is responsible for half of such losses.

Liverpool would be looking to bring in a quality goalkeeper to bolster their defence and mount a serious title challenge in the upcoming season.

Having said that, we take a look at the possible options Klopp could be looking at in the summer.

#5 Jack Butland

The youngster is clearly one of the most talented players in England. Butland currently plays for the English club, Stoke City. Premier League followers need absolutely no convincing about his abilities. The 24-year-old is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the League only to be bettered by De Gea, Ederson or Courtois.

He has 18 clean sheets to his name in 64 appearances. The Englishman would not cost a fortune for Liverpool. Moreover, in him, Klopp would get a player who has proven himself in the Premier League and has a long enough career in front of him.

#4 Nick Pope

Nick Pope has been in fine form for Burnley this season

Nick Pope, the Burnley shot-stopper used to be Tom Heaton's understudy at the club. However, with the latter's injury, the Englishman has risen to the occasion and grabbed all the spotlight at the Turf Moor.

The 25-year-old has kept nine clean sheets for the club this season in the league. His bravery in one-on-one situations is something commendable.

The English goalkeeper has been instrumental to Burnley's remarkable season so far. Standing between the sticks, Pope has denied some of the amazing strikes from almost point blank range.

In Pope, Liverpool would get a player on whom they can bank on for at least a decade. However, it remains to be seen if Sean Dyche is willing to part ways with his shot-stopper.

#3 Kevin Trapp

Kevin Trapp in action for PSG

PSG have great depth in their goalkeeping department in the form of Alphonse Areola and Kevin Trapp. The former has been the regular starter for the French side while the latter has been the fall-back for Areola.

The 27-year-old is a promising player who is yet to prove his worth in France. The German goalie has made only eight appearances for the club in all competitions. The lack of game time at PSG could force the player to look for a new club in the summer.

Trapp has been showcasing his strength and brilliant reflexes in the minimal game time he has been given under Unai Emery.

Liverpool were reportedly keen to make a move for the player in January. Klopp would be making a quality addition to his side if he manages to snatch the player from the clutches of the French side.

#2 Alisson Becker

The Brazilain goalkeeper is a highly rated player in Italy

Alisson Becker is a name which needs absolutely no introduction in the Italian Serie A. The Roma number #1 has been in sensational form this season.

The Brazilian goalkeeper already has 11 clean sheets for the club in his 25 appearances this season. Liverpool tried to sign the player in January and reportedly had a bid rejected by the Italian side.

In his latest appearance against Shakhtar in the round-of-16 of the Champions League, the player showcased his metal. He single-handedly kept the opponents at bay and clinched an important win for his team.

Klopp could pursue the player with all his might in the summer. He would be an ideal signing for Liverpool FC.

#1 Keylor Navas

Real Madrid's number #1, Keylor Navas is the only player who has been consistent with his performances this year.

However, the Costa Rican's achievements at the club have always been overshadowed by the speculations of David de Gea replacing him at the Bernabeu.

The 31-year-old is one of the best goalies in the Spanish La Liga. His positioning and reflexes make him invaluable.

If Real do offload the goalkeeper this summer, Liverpool should line up for his signature. In Navas, Klopp would get a player who always demands more than a 100 percent from himself.
