Alexis Sanchez vs Eric Dier
Was I the only one grinning when I saw Eric Dier’s mistake against Bayer Leverkusen which almost resulted in a goal? Of course, I’m an Arsenal fan, you’d have picked that up by now.
But just ask Gary Cahill what it means to be a high-line defender when you have Arsenal’s littler energiser bunny breathing down your neck. Alexis Sanchez is a prowler – and one in form.
He’s not going to let Dier live in peace chasing down dead situations and proving to be a nuisance. But, sadly (in a way), he isn’t the kind of player who would instigate a fight just to rattle the defenders.
Dier, on the other hand, could have one of the best games of his career if he sticks to basics. No flashy passes, no no-look passes, and certainly no neck-muscle-less headers.
Dier is big, strong and fast and he’ll have to be on his a-game to ensure Alexis has no say in this battle. But more than anything, he needs to be patient when on the ball.
