Despite winning the UCL 3 consecutive times, this has been a disappointing season for Real Madrid.

The club has faltered massively this campaign, leading to the sack of Julen Lopetegui, as most players in the squad have failed to step up following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Real Madrid's status as one of the biggest clubs in the world means that they will always be associated with marquee signings, and while they have largely delved away from the galactico policy in recent years, there is no denying that the current squad is in massive need of overhauling, as the core of the squad has seemingly reached its nadir.

With the 2019 winter transfer window coming to a close, we shall be taking a look at three players who are being monitored by Real Madrid.

#3 Eden Hazard

Regularly mentioned when names of the best players in the world are called, Eden Hazard, has long since established himself as one of the premier players in the world, performing at a world class level for the best part of the last six seasons.

This has repeatedly seen him on the radar of Real Madrid, with Los Blancos having long identified him as a potential galactico, with those speculations reaching an all-time high following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo last summer, which freed up space in the Real ranks on Hazard's preferred wing.

The 28-year-old has also stated in the past that Real Madrid would be a dream move for him, with him stalling on signing a contract extension with Chelsea in a bid to see through his dream move.

Having started the season on fire, Chelsea have hit some rough patches in recent weeks, with it looking increasingly likely that the club cannot match the ambitions of a player on the level of Eden Hazard.

News reports have come out stating that Maurizio Sarri has given the Belgian international the green light to leave if he wants to. Real Madrid could finally snap up their prized transfer target.

#2 Luka Jovic

The Serbian international has been making waves in Europe ever since his loan transfer from Portuguese giants SL Benfica to German side Eintracht Frankfurt.

Having starred sparingly in his debut season in the Bundesliga, the 21-year-old has exploded this season, scoring 13 goals in just 17 league matches to lead the way in the race for the Golden Boot in the German Bundesliga, and helping his club sit fifth in the standings.

Earlier in the season, Jovic became the youngest player in Bundesliga history to score five goals in a single match when he did so in Frankfurt's 7-1 home win over Fortuna Dusseldorf in October 2018.

His form has understandably attracted attention from Europe's biggest sides, with Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and Barcelona all said to be interested in getting his scoring services.

New reports have emanated that Real Madrid have entered the race to sign Jovic, as they have identified him as a potential solution to their goal-scoring woes.

#1 Joao Cancelo

Joao Cancelo is a 24-year-old Portuguese player who currently plays for Juventus as well as the Portugal national team.

Although primarily a right-back, the former Valencia man's versatility has seen him deployed across numerous positions, including left-back and further forward as a right winger.

Despite only arriving Juventus in the summer of 2018 in a £35.5 million deal, having represented Inter Milan on loan the season before, Cancelo's performances have been so impressive that he has been named Juventus' best signing of the summer by many fans and pundits alike.

His performances on the flanks of Juve's defense has seen him identified as a potential transfer to Real Madrid, with reports emanating that the defending European champion's president, Florentino, has been a long admirer, having tried to lure him away from Valencia in the past.

Reports suggest Real are preparing a €60 million kitty to lure the Portuguese international away from Turin, especially given the increasingly injury prone nature of first choice right-back, Dani Carvajal.
