Real Madrid got knocked out of the race from three competitions inside a week and to make the matters, worse it all happened at their home stadium, Santiago Bernabeu. La Liga is the only competition left for the three times Champions League defending champions and they are twelve points adrift of the leaders Barcelona with twelve games remaining.

Every one expected Real Madrid to drop a level or two after one of their greatest ever Cristiano Ronaldo decided to leave the club for Italian giants Juventus but no one saw this coming.

The biggest mistake Madrid made was not to replace the Portuguese great. Although Real Madrid had some chances in all the three games last week, the final scores were the true impression of the game.

Now all the attention for the club turns to the summer transfer window, which will be an opportunity for the Spanish giants to rebuild their squad for next season. Here are three players which might help them perform better next season.

Eden Hazard

Chelsea's Belgian playmaker had made his intentions clear last summer when he openly admitted being interested in moving to Real Madrid but what surprised the most people was that no move was made from the Madrid hierarchy to sign the Belgian.

Hazard although has been in red hot form for Chelsea this season having scored 12 goals and assisted 11 this season in the Premier League. Belgian can be seen as the right guy to replace Cristiano Ronaldo with his ability to play on both the wings and at number 9 position as well.

Hazard is one of the best dribblers in Europe averaging 3.9 successful dribbles this season per game according to WhoScored.

Matthijs DeLigt

The Ajax wonderkid is regarded as one of the best young talents in the world. A regular for his national team, he is one of the most sought out players among the European elite. According to rumours, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, Bayern, Liverpool, Manchester City are some of the teams chasing the young centre-back.

The Dutch centre-back has received only one yellow card this season. He averages 1.3 successful tackles, 1.3 interceptions, 3.7 clearances and 0.9 blocks per game this season.

Despite being only 19 years old, he is one of the most consistent defenders in Europe and could provide real competition to Madrid centre-back pairing of Ramos and Varane for their starting spot. He can prove to be a world-class back up as well as someone who can step up in the first team squad if required.

Bernardo Silva

Manchester City's Bernardo Silva is exactly what Real Madrid needs in their midfield department. Silva is a world class player and probably the first name on Guardiola's Man City team sheet.

Silva can score goals, assist them and is one of the most hardworking midfielders in the Premier League. He has an average rating of 7.11 this season according to WhoScored and has scored nine goals while assisting six times to his teammates.

Silva's ability to play in midfield trio or as left winger/midfielder is something that increases his value furthermore. He is exactly the player Real Madrid misses in the middle of the park with his bite and energy invaluable.
