Eric Bailly is somewhat of a misfit in the Manchester United ranks this season. It would appear Jose Mourinho sees life with the United defence without him. While nothing is set-in-stone yet, I wouldn't bet against United selling Bailly in the upcoming transfer window.

Arsenal is a team on the rise. They are looking to return to their former super-club status, something they lost since the Invincibles era. So with all this in mind, it makes sense for Arsenal to pursue a move for Eric Bailly.

Obviously, it's not going to be easy. Although Arsenal and United have formed a close transfer relationship in recent seasons, Jose Mourinho is always wary of strengthening a rival, particularly Arsenal.

But if they do manage to pull off a deal, then it will an encouraging sign. Here are three reasons why Arsenal should pursue a move for Eric Bailly.

#1 The Jose Mourinho curse

Obviously, it had to get a feature on this list. In case you didn't know, whenever Jose Mourinho sells a player, there's a high chance they will go on to become big stars. I mean, just look at the two recent PFA players of the year, Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah, they were both sold by Mourinho.

While Eric Bailly isn't up there with those in terms of talent, he does have the potential to be a solid player for any team. I mean, he's not even been bad for United, it's just another questionable decision by Mourinho to leave him out of the starting eleven each week.

The Ivorian international will have a point to prove should he be sold by Mourinho. He will look to seek vengeance, and there's no better place to do that than at Arsenal.

Jose Mourinho seemingly hates Arsenal, and Arsenal hates Jose Mourinho. It's a recipe for disaster should you be a United fan, but as an Arsenal fan, you should be licking your lips in anticipation.
