3. Messi’s brace

Barca had to once again rely on Messi

This was nothing new for Lionel Messi as he once again bailed his team out of a tough situation with a brace. The Camp Nou went dead silent when Parejo gave the visitors a two-goal lead in the first half. Lionel Messi brought some much-needed confidence as he scored a penalty to pull one back at the 39th minute. Even when Valencia built a wall in front of him, he made some brilliant passes to free up Suarez and Semedo but he did miss his partner in crime Jordi Alba in the first half.

Once Alba came in Barcelona looked a different side as his link-up play with Messi on the left flank left the Valencia defence clueless. Finally, totally against the run of play Messi equalized out of nowhere as he somehow found a tiny amount of space between the defenders to shoot the ball into the left corner. There was a minor injury scare for Messi and Barcelona will be hoping that he gets fit before the El Clasico on Wednesday.
