#2. Cristiano Ronaldo's departure

Juventus v SS Lazio - Serie A
Ronaldo is now a Juventus player

In what has proven to be the biggest loss for Real Madrid in the past decade, Portuguese superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo left for Juventus this summer. A new challenge was what inspired the player to make the switch and the Liga giants will need to cope without their talismanic forward during the campaign.

With the attacker now gone, everyone knows that Los Blancos will find it very difficult to replace him as there is no superstar who can guarantee up to 50 goals per season on the planet. However, there was always the hope that Los Blancos will continue progressing and much of that responsibility rests on the shoulders of their midfield maestro - Luka Modric.

The Croatian International is in the form of his life at the moment and he has been the engine of the team for the past few years. In fact, Real Madrid cannot afford to lose him yet, especially given that they are still nursing the wounds of Cristiano Ronaldo's departure. Had he departed, Los Blancos would have become weak beyond repair.
